I have Clematis Arabella which is grafted onto another shrub....it hasn't done very well in its present position. I would like to move it in the Spring to a more suitable place....Will there be any problem as it is grafted please?

as long as you lift the root stock with plenty of soil it should be fine. Perhaps in early autumn would be best.

Thank you Eileen....I wondered about the Autumn. Will try then....there isn't much soil where it is planted that's obviously why it hasn't prospered.

My Arabella scrambles all through the shrubs in the border and blooms with gay abandon. I bought it from a stand outside a supermarket and I doubt it is grafted but don't really know. It's a toughie though! Plant it deep.

That's interesting PF...I think the trouble is the depth of planting....I will definitely move it to an area that has deeper soil.

How do I say thanks?
