I have a mature ,large Teucrium fruiticans which has died in the middle but showing fresh growth and flowers around the rest of the shrub....wondering should I cut it down to ground level or remove it ?The dead area is as a result of pruning at wrong time of year. You can just about see the top of it in the photo.

if it were me I'd remove the dead stuff and see how the rest of it does.

Just had to read this Meadowland! The question title came up as "I have a mature" and was fascinated to find out just what you had a mature one of - plant, man, dog, the possibilities are endless. Bit of a come-down, but best of luck with it anyway!
