Thanks guys, I didn’t mention in my original post that I actually thought it was a weed. I can assure you I didn’t plant it, neither did the wife, so I’m a little perplexed as to how it came to be there. I certainly have mysterious garden. We’ve been here 9 years and about 3 years ago an hyacinth appeared from where is unknown, this year we have 3. A garden that grows it’s own floral display. I bet you lot are envious. 😂😂

6.30 am: Just realised I shoudl have said blanda. Felt compelled to get up and put it right but clearly I was too late --sorry! Goingback to bed now.

That made me smile as I do that sort of thing too Yorks.

The seed has probably been carried from another garden by a cat/bird/wind. but I love chance sowings. In may garden it tends to be things I don't want though.

I got a hollyhock from a chance sowing. It's coming up again this year.
Sadly my Nicotiana Sylvestris
isn't doing the same. In my last property it always suprised me when it came up each year.

Quite a nice surprise. I have had wild verbascums and evening primroses but nothing as exotic as hollyhocks!

How do I say thanks?
