They all look alike (4) could be Peas ... as in Peas in a pod.

Wish this was in the correct aspect, it would be a lot easier to read.

Thank you Shirley Tulip, sorry owdboggy that’s how my sister sent it to me, I’m not sure how to rotate it.

Is this part of a crossword puzzle? They usually come a topical clue. Seeing the entire puzzle would be a great help. It all relates.

Ensign rocks - stone crop?

its a cryptic quiz Paul, so they don't interlock as it isn't a crossword. but Pope Dot says it is gardening related.

Thanks Eileen. Does the number refer to how many letters are in the word? Ensign Rocks - all I can think of is birthstone. It's 10 letters but I think it should be plural. Then it wouldn't fit and nothing to do with gardening. Am I doing this right?

Ensign rocks = flag-stones

Immoral fashionable man = rake

Possibly?

old mobile burial place could it be compost heap? but not sure why old mobile.
I also think flag stones as an ensign is a flag on a ship
and rake is perfect for the immoral man.
I also agree with peas.

is the first clue : looks like a rabbit ringer?

Thank you all very much for your help, it’s much appreciated. Seaburngirl yes the first one is Rabit ringer.

could that be a harebell? rabbit=hare ringer =bell?

25 Nov, 2020

Ah yes I think you’re right, thank you Seaburngirl.

Cryptic for sure

"Old mobile burial place" = wheelbarrow

Re. the clue "Red-tree boot" : if it wasn't "8" (letters), I would suggest "wellington" as a possible answer - because a Redwood tree is also called Wellingtonia.

I also thought Wellington at first for the red tree boot but obviously doesn't fit.
I like wheel barrow for the old mobile burial place much more likely than my suggestion.

Agree, wheelbarrow is brilliant! And flagstones is so much better than stonecrop which is after all the wrong way round. Some clever folk on here...

Red-tree boot could be Beetroot as it is an anagram of tree boot and is red!

26 Nov, 2020

I think your Beetroot sounds right, Shirley tulip.

26 Nov, 2020

I never even thought of an anagram. well worked out.
