Adenophora

Last year I bought a plant from the bargain counter. It looked a little sorry for itself but it did have one bloom which had a delicious scent. I couldn’t resist. I left it in a pot all winter then planted it in the ground this spring. It is flowering now but not only is the flower different but it has no smell. The label said Adenophora Gaudi violet and the flower that was shown on it was exactly the same as the photo on the label so what’s happened? Can anyone tell me please?

could the fragrance have come from something near by in the gc? or perhaps it has fragrance when it is warmer/ or at a different time of day. I have a couple of different Adenophora and I have never noticed a fragrance which is a shame as it is a lovely genus.
