Repeat flowering climbing roses, after the first flush of flowers should you prune right back to the main structure of the rose as in winter pruning or just deadhead. I have looked on the internet and can only find winter pruning tips. I have a David Austin Mortimer sackler which has almost gone over, not sure whether to take all side shoots back to main branches or just lightly remove flower clusters.

Just deadhead as you would with a bush rose, and do the main prune in late February/early March, again as you would with a bush rose.

I agree unless the rose has attractive hips in which case don't dead head.

How do I say thanks?
