Daughter has been growing this for a while but does anyone know what it is, and whether it’s worth keeping.

It looks like a Staghorn Fern. They are suitable for hanging baskets and the foliage will cascade down - or a wall mount. Yes, she should keep it These are considered exotic plants and they aren't cheap $. Give it chance. Good drainage is essential as they are prone to root rot. Allow to dry out between watering and it needs frequent watering. Keep the soil moist, but not too much water.

I was thinking a Canna, myself.

Looks exactly like my Cannas are at this stage, so I would plump for that too.

Apparently daughter used to have a Canna, so I guess this is it. Thanks for the suggestions.
