Welcome to GoY.

What I do and I know this sounds very ocd but I sort them by size first.
Then I wash them and using the pattern on the bottom of the pot I stack them according to the pattern.
I then store them in a stacker box in my shed.

Then when I am growing from seed all the plants of the same type are in matching pots.

Does that make me sad or what haha.

Not at al. I sort mine too. They live on shelf in the shed.
If it becomes necessary perhaps the handyman at your house could put up a shelf somewhere? If shelter is not available perhaps the handyman at your house might make a lidded box like a cold frame but all wood, and keep them in that?.Or a couple of shelves in the garage?
As a last resort cover your boxes with plastic sheeting held down with stones.

It's smart to sort them by size. Stored in the basement under the stairs until I need them. They really come in handy when starting up seeds indoors - tomatoes, peppers, squash, flower seeds that need a head start and houseplants that need dividing.

Certainly is smart! I need to get my act together! Welcome to GoY Joan! :)

After sorting plastic pots in to different sizes store each pile in an old stocking (panty hose). Hang them up behind the shed door. Cut the foot off to let you slip out a pot when required and slip washed and dried pots in at the top. If you are unlikely to use certain sizes take them back to the garden centre and put in their recycling bin. Our local centre allows depositing or we can choose to pick up the sizes we need free of charge.

Haha- I am happy to say I don't have any tights wide enough for my larger pots... But what a good idea!

I do not think any of us would Steragram but most pots are not huge and they can be safely hung up out of the way. Anything too big will have to be stacked but if we are never likely to need them I think getting rid is the best solution. I must have a weird sense of humour but you did make me laugh with the images your answer conjured up.

Love these last comments, made me laugh. I think it's a clever idea Scotsgran.

Feverfew I think you can say we are doing our bit to help the NHS. A laugh a day keeps the doctor away.

Thanks all for the advice. We have too many to fit in tights though ๐Ÿ˜…

Sometimes you just need to get rid of pots you are unlikely to use. Until the charity shops reopen the other alternative might be to post them on Freecycle. That way it will enable social distancing and because there will be no money changing hands you can put a box of the required size outside with no need to meet the recipient. Good luck.

Today I started up some flower seeds indoors and used about 10 smallish pots I had in storage. It was a quick and easy task. I don't know how else I could have done it.

It is very handy to be that organised Bathgate. In this time of lockdown getting new pots is near impossible.

How do I say thanks?
