that's sad Paul as I get new flowers every year but usually May time.
Balcony has done some nice blogs on making them re flower.

The flower stalk is but if you keep it watered you should get thick strap like leaves emerging.
is the bulb still firm?
just cut the stalk off near the top of the bulb.
