Can someone please recommend a house plant to go under this sky light which brings in bright light all day?
It's probably a bit too much sun for some plants as my Palm wasn't too happy here, so will need those strong one's that will love it all day.

Thank you x

A good selection here and it looks like you have a bit of space to have success. Best of luck!

How many hours of direct sun does this site receive?

@Bathgate I guess I'll have to check on that. I suspect it is just about too much sun 😎 😔 I'm going to test it today.

@Legion Thank you for the link!
The Filddle Leaf Fig sounds like the best bet and also available in big sizes for a reasonable price. (I will need something big to fill up all this space. My only worry would be some excess light.

I do have 3 Sansevieria around, that get the brightest light all day however they get zero direct light, and I'm looking for something big to go under the skylight itself, which will mean some proper sun not at the best time of the day...

Thank you for your comments!

This isn't an answer, but I'm curious. From the photo it looks as though the skylight is directly over the stairwell. Where is the plant going to stand?

Hey @Steragram, I'd like it to be here:

Just ordered a 4ft double stem Fiddle Leaf! Follow if you want to see a picture once it's arrived!

Glad to be of help. Sounds like you made the right choice in plant Meymey.😀

Ouch! My experience is that Fiddle-Leaf Fig doesn't like direct sun at all! I hope that that only applies to the arc light brilliance that we experience here in the desert. My choices would include Ficus benjamina, Ficus microtheca 'Green Gem', Ficus elastica 'Decora', Phoenix roebelenii, Dypsis lutescens, Ravenea rivularis, and Araucaria heterophylla.

Hey Tugbrethil, I guess I'll have to find out. Not too sure about how direct the sun gets there. It's more like the constant brightest light you can get.

I feel like I'll give it a go at this position and if I get signs of a not too happy plant, I'll reposition it.

Anyway, going to google the plants in your list I don't know yet :)

The photo was informative- I was imagining something in a much bigger pot and standing on the floor! Did you know Fiddle Leaf can grow 12 -15 metres?

9 Mar, 2020

Hey Steragram, the Fiddle Leaf will be going on the floor of course, I'm expecting a 100cm-120cm one and I'll be very happy to see it growing so tall.

Found this link, which actually warns about too much bright light.
I guess I'll have to try, maybe move away a bit during really hot, sunny spring/summer days. I tend to move my plants so much. I know some of them hate it but I can't help myself :)

That's what happens when you ignore sound advice and try to answer your own questions - Fiddledee Figs. Why bother?

Perhaps liking the plant is a good reason?

10 Mar, 2020

nah, it was specifically on the original link, advised for a sky light area (!) I've actually spent hours researching. I don't buy plants easily...

How do I say thanks?
