SALVIA ( Hot Lips )
have got one of these at the bowling green, this year pruned right back to about 5ins. Has come back twice the size, but not as many blooms. Is it safe to dig up, split and re plant ? If so, is now the best time? Its about 3 years old. Thanks all.

I don't think that you can split these Salvias, Littlelegs. I'm pretty sure that they're not multi-stemmed at the base - I think my shrubby Salvias all grow on one stem. The herbaceous ones can be split, but your 'Hot Lips' would have to be propagated by cuttings.
