Welcome, Searle! Sorry this took so long. When I see that my first suspect is drought, and the second is frost. Too much sodium in the soil or water is also possible, but pretty rare in the UK--it would have to be getting spray on the beach! Did you water religiously through that hot, dry spell you folks had there this summer? Have you already had some nippy nights? If indoors, lack of light might do that too.
