I have a perennial sweetpea plant in a pot, which grew over 8 foot tall this year, but only has a few (very pretty) flowers. To get more flowers next year should I keep cutting it back before it flowers or put it in a bigger pot or both? Does cutting it back stop it from flowering? Any advice much appreciated.

You can cut it right back and it will still grow again. Also you could collect the seeds and sow them to get more plants in reserve.

it will die back and go dormant over winter. they are better in the ground but if it has to be in a pot make it as big as possible and make sure you give it plenty of slow release fertiliser as they are 'hungry' plants in my experience.
