Sorry, the image is too blurred to be able to enlarge it to see more clearly. Can you take another shot please?

It’s scorpion weed, a wildflower, probably self seeded, a real favourite amongst bees. I have grown some from seed this year.

I had it one year in a packet of wild flower seeds.
It is not a British native. I think it comes from America.

thank you Amsterdam, that ticks all the boxes! now that I know the name I had no trouble identifying it. I didn't realise it comes from America and that it is an annual, I hope it self seeds, but must remember not to handle it too much. So Owdboggy there is no need for another photo is there! unless you would you would like one. and thanks to you too Hywel , for replying.

I had a self sown one a few years ago and assumed it came from bird seed? Was ages before I got it identified. Love the way the flower buds unroll! It didn't self seed though. Why do you need to be careful handling it please?

Yes, Phacelia. It can be grown as a green manure. I have some in my wild patch. The bees love it! Its very pretty and it lasts for ages too. Nice.

I grew it a while back and it kept coming back every year. in the end I was fed up of it and it was a pain to get rid of.

Yes, I guess it could become a weed. Annual though....so not as bad as ground Elder or nettles...they are my worst two. Mind you...stcky willow is annual and thats a right pain. So many seeds!!

steragram .. on checking up on this plant... (scorpion weed) it apparently can cause a nasty rash if handled
( so don't pick it for a bouquet) it said, so better safe than sorry...not sure if it only applies to that particular one ..Phacelia distans. Although no one else has mentioned this fact .. I asked Google ... (scorpion weed... do they all cause a rash) cos I couldn't remember where I got that info from ...and found the answer! ...a bit off putting though, as now I'm afraid to handle it without gloves!!!
