I bought gomphostigma on a whim only to find out it's a marginal plant that likes water it's big too.. so I'm wondering if it will suit a clay shady spot that doesn't dry out but doesn't get a lot of sun either

sadly it will struggle in the shade as it does need full sun. As for it being a marginal plant hmm. it prefers damp soil so you could get away with it in your garden as long as you add plenty of humus to help retain moisture.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has 'impulse buys' ;o)
