I have a curly willow in a pot that has just lost its leaves but is just as quickly growing new ones. It looks like spring again! Is that normal?

SBG is dead right. Willows demand constant watering especially in containers and I would think about planting it in the ground eventually.

not too unusual and it will be down to the weather we have been having. In a pot it will need plenty of water. if it got too dry then it would drop its leaves. as it gets bigger it will need more water and moving into a bigger pot.
