What's the plant they're on?

it is important to know what plant they are on as many butterflies/moths lay their eggs on specific plants only.

are these the remains of the full leaves? or are they like asparagus leaves?

Maybe a type (depending on which plant they are on, as previously mentioned) of sawfly larvae.

They're not sawfly - they are asparagus beetle larvae.
