Fatsia japonica.
Lovely architectural plant. Gets flowers late in the year that are white but most people just grow it for the foliage. It is evergreen and can reach about 10ft although mine has never got beyond about 5ft.

A long cluster of rather untidy insignificant flowers.

I rather like the picture I took but feel it's a bit agressive as a plant -Thanks for your enlightenment.... I will 'sit on it' for now....

It all depends how much room you've got for it. I think they are good to look at and you can always cut it down to size - its very easy and it grows away happily afterwards. I have seen one as large as a small tree in a garden as a feature.
