And another. Last year I planted a young Barnsley Baby lavetera but too near a path. It is a dwarf but as it was young I didn't prune it last spring and it grew a lot more width that height so I have moved it more central position in the border. Should I do preliminary prune now and the major one next spring

Because your tree suffered trauma and root damage during transplant, trimming an equal amount would give it the best chance of recovery. Even "dwarf" trees have quite a root system.

it will also prevent wind rock as the roots will not be fully established for anchorage. I'd reduce it by half.
