Hi. I bought a house with a garden that has a slop towards the house. Is there any way to stop the rain water from entering the patio?

There are several different possibilities, but more info is needed to see which ones will work. How steep a slope is it? Is there a level area just outside of the patio? Is there an even lower area on another side of the house that will allow the water to drain away? What are your community laws about drainage from your property? How frequent is the flooding? Solutions that work with floods every several years won't work with floods several times a year.
