What is the best ornamental tree to plant in my front garden. I have a semi-circle at the front of a block paved area and want it to be a statement piece (perhaps similar to a bonsai tree). Can you give me any suggestions that do not need much maintenance please?

Also what size were you thinking of - you can't keep most taller trees small by cutting them back as it spoils the shape.

yes, but more information first please - whereabouts in the UK are you, and what aspect is the bed,that is, does it get full sun, no sun, half a day's sun, is it very exposed and windy or nice and sheltered? And the rough distance from your house to this bed, or any other structure with foundations...
