Planting a Gold Rush Hydrangea/? Can it be planting in the sun? Or should it be planted in shade

Depends to some extent where you live. It would not like full hot sun all the time. They do well with shade in the afternoon, in a soil with some moisture.

I would definitely give it some shade, unless you lived near the northern Pacific coast--Gold Beach northward--the northern Atlantic coast--Philadelphia northward--southern Appalachia, or the southern Coast Ranges--as around Alpine, California.

I agree, partial sun - bright shade. It would work as an under-story tree where it gets dappled sun. Deep dark shade is not good either.
