Would you like to see what I did with your advice? Back in the depths of winter 2014 I asked about the wreck at the back of my tiny courtyard garden. Following your advice and 8 weeks of back breaking work to clear the old raised bed this is what I have now.

Thankyou

It looks lovely, but the photos are upside down. Is this a GOY bug...?

No upside down on my iPad. Did you use a camera? The garden looks great but I couldn't find your original post from 2014.

Probably the pic was posted from an ipad or iphone - that's the usual cause of this. There is a way to make sure they're the right way up when posted by doing something on your device, but I don't know what that 'something' is...!

It looks very attractive anyway - well done!

What I did was to right click on the image and select Save as. Opened up my pictures folder then when the correct page came up I selected all files. The images were pasted into my pictures folder and once I'd rotated clockwise twice I could view them. It wasn't that simple though and I wonder if the easiest might be just to email them to yourself.

Having said all that I did like what I saw, particularly your stones and driftwood. It all looks great, Joqwerty.

Sorry about the photos. I think I was under a different name back them. I posted pics of it and then pics of the mud heap that carried on through January and February. Stupid time of year to start.

I needed something that was low maintenance and would stand the constant shade and dry conditions. I am not much of a photographer, I think it looks better in real life.

In the summer I add pots of flowers to add a bit of colour. Last year I planted a blue rambling rose, which likes shade. It was amazing.

what a transformation!
you must be very happy with it.

I am, very happy. And I have a toad who visits who is called Montmorency. I have no idea where he comes from or how he gets in, but he likes the wood and the stones.

Brilliant J! Thanks for showing your results. Pity there isnt a 'before' pic, but never mind, it looks very pretty!

Well the before pic: Imagine scruffy bit of derelict land with poor sad neglected plants all over the place. Over the years it becam a bit of a soil dumping ground and got so high up the garage wall that it was hard to access. It nearly killed me to dig it out.

After I did the ground work, my two sons came and rebuilt it for me with a retaining wall. The plants have filled out the space really well. I have had to take some out as I over planted at the beginning.

Brilliant! Good for you. Hard work but max. Satisfaction!

You must have been under an old account at the time of your origional question.

I think you have made a great job of the transformation. I clicked on each photo then copied both to a word file. Clicking on each in turn I was able to turn them around and view them properly. I just closed the file without saving. Well done.

I have done that in the past Scotsgran but for some reason it wouldn't work this time. The vagaries of computers no doubt!

That looks really good, well worth the aching back that came with all the work along the way...I had to flip my laptop as well but not a problem lol....
