You should defer to member Hywel. He knows all about Fushias. This is one plant I do not grow.

By all means ask Hywel, but I've had a look and the nearest match appears to be one called Margaret My Own, sold by Potash Nursery, described as 'hardy'. One thing I can tell you though, even if it is hardy, it won't be in a pot, fuchsias are vulnerable to frost through their roots, so you'd need to put in the ground or bring under shelter for winter.

This link is to Potash Nursery, but you'll have to scroll down to find Margaret My Own, they're listed alphabetically - its a close up of the flower, which you should compare in detail with your own flower there

I don't think its Margaret My Own if you look at the tube on yours it is short and on Margaret My Own it is quite long have a look at Angie but honestly with thousands it is almost impossible to name.

THANKS will take a closer look at mine.

Many thanks.Had a closer look, yes, definately..Margaret My Own...says it is hardy, does this mean I can leave it outside during the winter or will it be best to bring it inside with it only being small. Also ,is it decidious?

It will die down below the soil for winter - but it won't be hardy in a pot, so if you can transfer it to the border and bury it a bit deeper now, it should come through alright. If you want to keep it in a pot, you need to move it to a greenhouse or a conservatory if/when the winter gets very cold.

Thanks.can I plant it in the garden now?

12 Oct, 2015

Immediately, yes, don't leave it any longer, its already a bit late to do it.

Thank You,will get that done ASAP.Also ,I have got three other fuschias which I have now brought indoors, will they lose there leaves thoughout the winter.

Might, might not - you don't want to keep them flowering, they need a rest, so put them somewhere coolish and only water when you see they're drooping, and only water a little bit, until mid to late February, when you can repot, bring into good light, start watering regularly ready to go back out late May.

Thank You bamboo.so no feed or much water til Spring,is that correct.I have them on a window ledge in the hall ,is that too light for them?

Well, I used to turn them out of their pots, cut them back a bit, stick 'em in a box lined with plastic (just cos it was easier with several plants) filled with spent compost/sand mix, and with pelargoniums usually, and shove 'em on top of a wardrobe in the corner of a cool bedroom, and not near the window. I'd check occasionally, and if I saw the fuchsia leaves drooping, I'd give a small amount of water. Not enough to wet the cardboard box, just enough so that the leaves weren't drooping an hour later, a really small amount. So effectively, its resting, not growing, but remaining alive. Putting yours near a window and in warmth may mean it doesn't do this suspended animation thing, so you may need to find somewhere else for it if you can. Its not essential you remove it to a box though! Just in its pot or whatever you've transferred it to will be fine...

Thank you for your very professional advice. The three plants I am referring to are in the pots I bought them in in August quite small. What about the garage,it is an outbuilding so gets very cold in winter but frost does not get in there...would that do?

23 Oct, 2015

Hmm, might be a bit too cold, but if you're sure the temperature doesn't drop below 5 deg C...

23 Oct, 2015

I think I will leave them where they are then,it does not get too hot in that part of the hall...take a chance with that.I personally think they will be ok but we shall see.
Thank you for your imput...when Spring comes, will let you know how I went on.
