Has anyone got a Helleborus Rose red?

I planted some new borders last year and am finding conflicting information online and on the plant labels about how to care for things. Am guessing maybe it's a case of different people do things slightly differently...

With this one I've seen advice suggesting to cut the leaves back before flowering to highlight the colour and remove leaf damage. However on the label it doesn't mention anything about pruning. I cut the leaves back last year (they have got some damage on them now) but it didn't flower, though maybe this was because it was so newly planted then. Any thoughts?

We normally cut off the old leaves of this type of Hellebore in February. They are no longer being used by the plant then for food production. New leaves will then appear a little later in Spring. This also helps stop the spread of any nasty fungal infections.
You only do this to x hybrid types. Other Hellebore species should only have dead or damaged leaves removed.

Some of my Hellebores were in the ground for over four years before they flowered, I had about given up on them and was considering removing them, after advice from Goy members I left them in and my patience was well rewarded, once started they excelled themselves and started producing flowers from November and continued on well into the springtime, they are spreading themselves around quite nicely so I now have freebies to pop into any spare space as well... I too only remove the dead or damaged leaves...

Thanks for the advice, I may try just removing the damaged leaves this time instead.

Try feeding it with Tomato fertiliser around the middle of next month which is when they begin to form new roots.
