I have acquired a large amount of Yew tree bark chippings.
Is it safe to use on my allotment as a mulch / weed suppressant?
I now know that it is poisonous to animals if eaten but will it damage to soil or the fruit trees that I intend to spread it around the bases of?
Thank you, geoffbarratt@tiscali.co.uk

Perfectly safe though I would suggest creating paths with rather than using as a general mulch.

It can prevent germination of seeds though. I'd keep it for paths. If you put yew mulch into the search bar at the top of the page you can see replies to previous questions asking the same thing.
