Me too.

And me. Not everyone's cup of tea but I will confess to a having a bit of a soft spot for them (though I wouldn't particularly want them in my little yard)

Thanks for the replies. Don't think they are stinging nettles. I touched the leaves without getting stung. I've attached another photo. Thanks

Dead nettle then. Stinging nettles don't always sting - young growth or older growth if you 'grasp the nettle" rather than just brush past.
A clear, close up photo. Of the leaves might be helpful.

looks like one of the wild sorrels/ dock possibly Rumex? It has a woody stem and green/red funny flowers that seed all over. I need to dig out my wild flower guide but its out of reach at the mo.

Try Rumex acetosa, the way the leaf stem leaves the main stem is suggestive of this.

Leaves on the second picture do look a bit dock-like but the original picture had three of us saying nettle straight off.

I agree, first picture is of Urtica dioica, common nettle, and the second is a dock (Rumex) but I think it's a bit stout for R. acetosa. Good to have them growing together!

How do I say thanks?
