How do you prune a cultivated Bramble?
I was told to take out the old stems as the plant will fruit on the new growth. Last years stems (as thick as my little finger) now has absolutely loads of shoots on them so if I had pruned them out I don't think I would get much fruit . . . . so I don't know what to do next year!

Don 't cut any off, its OK. You only cut off the canes that have fruited.
A useful way of organising the plant is to tie in all one year's growth to one side as it grows. . This will be the growth that fruits the following year.
The the year after that tie in that years growth to the other side. This makes it easy to see which canes to cut off - always the ones that just fruited.
