could someone tell me what to do after the papaver as finished flowering to i cit it down or just leave it. thank you

I have an annual type, and I let it go to seed because it doesn't stay the same and its fun to see what will come up next year.

If this is Papaver orientale - Oriental poppy - cut it right back, water it and it should produce new leaves.
