Cannot help with a name, but generally speaking taste is down to the variety. For example Moneymaker which is very popular has very little taste. Shirley is another old and tasteless variety too.

Hi I felt the same and stopped growing them for that reason, until this year and tried a variety called sweet aperitif. I saw it in a seed brochure but saw them in a local garden centre also. They are cherry though.
