Has anyone ever tried putting their Orchids out to shower of rain?

Yes I did in the summer but I find that just dunking them in my water butt gives them a good soak. Only one of three has flowered this year.

Yes in the summer. But don't leave them out overnight as I did as the slugs get them.

Thanks Girls as was just wondering if rainwater was good for them

But have to share the excitement as all mine and I have around 20 are all in their 3rd rebloom mode this year.

But also their are so many new buds on the lower spikes too.

Rats! You are obviously better at it than me! I have resurrected my nieces but the one which has been passed down to me by both of my late sisters has refused to flower. I've tried the "keeping it in a cool place and shocking it into flower" - didn't work - and two types of feed, one for in growth and one when it's in bloom. I even talk to it nicely - to no avail.

You'd expect them to love it, considering where they grow naturally. Yours are all gorgeous!

I put mine outside on occasions in the summer.in a shaded area if it's hot,and let it have a shower, but I mist it over, when I water it.This year,it didn't bloom, and it should have been in flower for our 40th Wedding Anniversary..it was bought as a gift for our 30th,so I thought it had had it's day..
I gave it one last chance, took it apart, and washed all the old compost off,and it almost fell apart..I cut off all the brown dead roots, and potted up both halves again,in the same pot,in new stuff ..This was back in August...and only last week,I noticed a new stem growing on each half..Yay!
So glad I kept my old faithful..:o) How on earth do you keep getting your to rebloom several times a year,Kath??
Mine has only ever bloomed annually,at the same time each year..am I missing something here?
