I have a Skimmia Japonica shrub (rubella) It is quite a mature shrub. The branches have what I could only describe at white (cotton wool type) substance all over with raised brown nodules. I would hate to lose it.
Any ideas please.

MIght be scale infestation, from your description, but a photo would help enormously.
