Hi, welcome to GoY, as Bamboo says, it depends on the type of palm you have, if it has large fan shaped leaves, the chances are that you have a hardy palm, which needs no protection, or very little, if on the other hand you have the type of palm with long frond type leaves, the chances are, it will need a fair bit of protection, but even that can vary, so we could really use a photograph or a name for your palm, Derek.
