I have an alstroemerias and an ornamental poppy which I brought inland in pots when we moved. There is no sign of flowering, just healthy leaves. I bought the alsrroemeria last year and put it in the garden at the seaside but it never had a flower. Any ideas why?

alstroemerias, feed it some tomato food which should help , I do grow in pots John ins no 3 soil based.

The oriental poppy would grow and flower better in the border they tend not to do so well in a pot

In my experience alstroemerias take some time to get going and bloom fully....but when they do they are spectacular and lovely too for cut blooms indoors. I planted some in my front garden and it is only now, some four years later, that the flowers are really coming into their own. My advice would be to plant them in good, well drained soil, in full sun and be patient. Well worth waiting for.
