SYRINGA....MOCK ORANGE
I have a mock orange in full flower right now but it is a little too big and needs pruning back. Am I right in assuming that immediately after flowering is over will be the right time to prune and will it flower as well next year?

The short answer is, yes. Any shrub or climber that flowers before the end of June carries the blooms on wood made the previous year. If it flowers in the second half of the year, the blooms are borne on wood made in the same growing season.
