My irises bloomed then the buds and flowers became 'waterlogged' and wouldn't open but just were soaked on the stems. What caused this and what can I do to remedy it?

All this rain probably, some flowers rot off before opening when they get soaked through, its rained here all day today

also when the flower dies back they look as they are still to open and go incredibly soggy.

make sure no water goes in again by puting up shelter or planting under a tree or try to dry it but prevention is the best with plants.
