It would depend on the variety....if at all !!! Even then, most dwarf tomatoes are self branching and there's no need to pinch out the growing tips.
With cordon varieties, you usually try to aim for 4-5 trusses and then pinch them out then, you need to remove the sideshoots, not encourage them as all the plant's energy will go into producing more growth and therefore more fruit.
