these are in my garden, sorry posted dead ones but i have thousands of these underneath the soil and want to know what they are and how to get rid of them

Hi welcome to GoY, if you keep on turning the soil over, and leave them exposed, the birds will get rid of them for you, Derek.

I've had a look at both pictures, here and on the other question, and I can't see any difference between the dead and live pictures. Most likely leatherjackets.
