Hi.
I'm after a garden tree that grows up to 5ft and as green leaves in the summer reddy leaves in the autumn on the end of the branches are cone like furry buds that are reddy/black in colour and are quite big 6".
Please help i've been looking for ages but cannot source one.

Hi, welcome to GoY, sounds like it to me also, but if it is, it gets a lot bigger than 5ft, eventually reaching 15ft, with a spread of about 20ft, Derek.

It also spreads by suckers under the ground, a friend of mine had it coming up in her lawn!

They certainly do but you can mow them off.

i think it might be stag's horn / Rhus typhina you are on about, google it and see.
