Herts, United Kingdom

I recently planted 3 heathers, 2 orangy/red ones which say they flower in summer and a purple one which says it flowers in winter which I think got pulled about by a hedgehog and has slowly died! Why has this happened?

did you replant the heather straight away? if yes it should be ok. it may have been pulled up if worms were near the surface and the animal was after them for food.

I thought summer and winter flowering heathers need different soil. A garden centre near me used to advertise that only winter flowering heathers would grow on clay/chalk which most local gardens have.
If someone says I'm wrong I shall be very pleased! I'd like some summer heathers.

Maybe the hedgehog was just having a bad day? sorry for silly answer, and I wish you could send your annoying hedgehog here because we could do with her help. Try telling yourself that at least with hogs about you'll have less slug damage?

How do I say thanks?
