Unless you have a rogue goose in the neighbourhood, I'd put money on the damage being a slug or snail which loves the fresh new leaves of beans.
I'm joking about geese as a couple of years ago I was swearing about snails destroying all my beans until I replanted them, and then saw our four geese browsing all along the row ten minutes after I'd replanted. (They are now banned from the vegetable garden)

And I used to think that the dog was the only garden pest domesticated by man! : D
