Why has my camellia not got any buds on this year, as all the plants in the
garden centres are flowering?

Camellias need lots of water in August of the previous year or their flower buds drop off in January. Don't prune the shoots or you wil cut off the flowering wood. Shoots need to be about 2 years old to flower.
