Cordyline looks dead, I thnk the cold weather has upset it! All the leaves are brown. Should chop it down, in the hope it will send out shoots?

I just lost my 7 ft. cordyline australis after the snow in winter. My husband cut it almost down to the soil line a few days ago and now there are little shoots coming up and it is amazing at how fast they are growing! At first, the largest shoot was laying to the side but it is now "standing up". Guess I will just have to be patient and wait for it to grow up too! Oh,, by the way, mine is in a very large pot.
