Strange bee

I should ask an entymologist but thought someone here might know the answer.
Today i noticed a big bee and it seemed in difficulty - staggering around the patio. Two hours later it was still around and on closer inspection, it looked almost like two bee bodies stuck together ( no not mating). It was like a bee with an extra bottom end. Googled it but couldn't find anything remotely like it. Sorry, I aint got a picture.

Eeeek! Could it have been a parasitic bee/wasp/insect attacking a bee - trying to lay eggs on it or paralise it or something?
