we have planted some peas which say they are self-supporting if block planted. What is block planting?

Normally you would plant peas in rows. With block planting you sow the seeds/plant the seedlings in a square. This way the plants will climb up each other. It is a very good way of growing peas but because they are so close together you run the risk of Mildew!
