Is it a normal habit for the leaves to turn and remain bronze/yellow leaves some of which look like having rust on them all through winter and into summer?
Also do you need to prune the shrub when it gets too big? Is it be a slow growing shrub?

On plant Trachelospermum jasminoides

If its got rust, spray it with a fungicide. Otherwise, this shrub's leaves do have a bronzy tint to them. And yes, you can cut it back, but I'd wait a week or so to do it -you don't have to prune it though. It does seem to be a slow to get away when small, but after that doesn't seem to be that slow.
