Grew turnips for the first time last year - harvested them at golf to tennis ball size - they were bitter? couldn't eat any of them. Grew beetroot close to them - all ok - anyone know why they were bitter?

Try the Milan turnips they are mild and sweet

personally i think it is the nature of the turnip i find swedes much milder
