Have tried to grow some veg this year(cabbage,brocolli and cauliflower).Had trouble with pigeons,so netted them but to my surprise they grew and grew,just all leaves and no heads-the broccoli looked like it had gone to seed! So really not a very good year. Some advice from you all would be much appreciated.

Hi Bilbobaggins, Thank you for your very good answer,to be fair I had thought along the line of to much feed,but have also heard that brassicas love hard compacted soil,so that to crossed my mind. My veg are in two big raised beds,hence the thought of the soil not being to compacted.Thank you again for a well written explanation,thank you chris72.
