Suggestions please for planting under a tall Scot's pine in full sun.
There is a raised bed around the tree approx 6ft diameter.

Is this a new raised bed? It is not advisable to have raised beds in contact with the tree trunk. If its in full sun and can be kept from drying out most things would be OK. Depends whether you want permanent planting of perennials, or some evergreens for winter interest, or seasonal bedding.

Thank you for that. It is more a bed edged with large stones. Has always been there but now so overrun with periwinkle , brambles etc that it needs a clear out and fresh start.
