I have had raised beds installed in the garden. This is year 2 and as I am starting to clear the beds I am finding the soil has become impacted ++ and is like concrete to get the fork through.! What do I need to do to rectify this problem ?

What did you fill the beds with in the first place and are they open at the bottom, on soil?
